La Florida, in the province of Alicante, is part of a group of urbanisations built in the last twenty or so years to accommodate the huge growth of holidaymakers and ex pats that started choosing the South Costa Blanca Coastline as the place they want to live and vacation. As a result you can find property of all kinds from apartments and townhouses to villas for sale in this area.

La Florida is part of a group of developments in that area which include Los Altos, Los Almendros and Lago Jardin. Its popularity as a place to live are in part naturally due to the fantastic weather that this area experiences and its proximity to the coast, as most properties are less than a ten minute drive from the sea, but also due to the fact that they are bordered by so many interesting places. To the North lie the salt lakes of Torrevieja, which themselves lie in a natural park and nature reserve housing all manner of species particular to the salt lakes themselves. Beyond that the cosmopolitan town of Torrevieja itself where you can find all the trappings of modern life including a great range of bars, restaurants, shops, stores, services and nightlife.

To the east and south along the coast are some of the best blue flag beaches you will come across and the popular seaside towns of Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and Cabo Roig. To the southeast is Villamartin, a large urbanisation in itself with a variety of property for sale, and at its centre the superb golf course and plaza which houses an absolutely top class restaurant and other local facilities. A few miles further south can then be found another two golf courses, those of the Campoamor Resort and Las Ramblas.

The more immediate area in which La Florida is located is dotted with facilities and services such as the well known Emerald Isle restaurant and leisure centre. However, recently the La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre was opened to facilitate the needs of La Florida and many other areas around it and houses a huge range of department stores, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
